Sony Hints At Non-Gaming PSP Apps

Sony has acknowledged that developers are likely to create “non-gaming” applications for PSP Go.
The "significant reduction in the (cost of) development tools for the PSP" was introduced to "enable all sorts of developers to develop content for the PSP," SCEA PR manager Al De Leon told CNET.
"It will mostly be games, but there's certainly an opportunity to look at some non-gaming applications," he added.
A recent unconfirmed report suggested that Sony is pushing developers to create smaller, “non-retail” games and applications for PSP.
The apps will reportedly have a 100MB file size limit and are due to retail for considerably less than existing PlayStation Store titles.
The report also suggested that an updated PlayStation Store featuring PSP apps will be revealed at Gamescom in August, and could be made publicly available before the year’s end.
PSP Go is set to release on October 1 in Europe and the US, and a month later in Japan.
